#mmmay18 days 1-10

Sew… It’s day 10 of #mmmay18 so let see what I’ve been wearing.

The last 10 days have been a mix of working, days off and a day volunteering at The Higgins Museum so I’ve been wearing a mix of my me made garments.

I started off the month with one of my latest makes which will be coming to the Minerva blog soon, the Slow Sunday Tilia pinafore. After wearing it again I do need to take it in a bit. Which is fine but also annoying as I used bias binding on the seams and it’s lined but it will be worth it.

Feeling camouflaged in my Dinosauria Art Gallery fabric.

Day two I was at the museum and wore my most recent French Navy Orla. The pattern is very altered with an FBA, front and back neck adjustment and a pleated skirt. I’m assuming it’s still classed as an Orla?! The pattern is free and perfect for a beginner or anyone wanting to have a go at hacking.

It wasn’t even raining!

The 3rd of May was a day off with no plans apart from some faffing around the house so I went for comfort and spent the day in my Tilly and the Buttons Milas. I’m so glad I went for a patterned stretch cotton as don’t think they would have suited me in a plain. Sew Me Sunshine has sold out of this print but has this amazing one available.

Pink shed back drop!

I was back to work on the Friday for the bank holiday weekend and the heat wave! Friday I went straight from my uniform into my pjs as I was excited about the arrival of my new Sewing Club pins which you can buy here.

Which colour is your favourite? I can’t decide!

On Saturday and Sunday we went for a walk around the village after our BBQs, yes we had them two nights in a row! I wore my Wendy Ward Peak t-shirt dress and my Tilly and the Buttons Agnes dress hack (Minerva blog post coming soon!). Both these dresses are super comfy. We did half an hour of gardening on Monday evening so I just chucked on the octopus dress again!

Jersey dresses are secret pyjamas.

Yay Tuesday was a day off work so I got to enjoy the sunshine. I decided to wear my favourite Tilly and the Buttons Bettine. I love the fabric although I have no idea what it is or where it’s from! Im pretty sure it’s a cotton and is possibly vintage.

Day 10 was basically secret pyjamas which consisted of Tilly and the Buttons Marigold trousers and a Coco tee.

Mixing patterns.

And to complete my first 10 days I went straight from pyjamas to work uniform as I was on a late shift. However they were me made, the Margot bottoms from Love at First Stitch. They are the only pjs I’ve made and at this time of year I could really do with another pair. These are made out of an old duvet cover with some ribbon from my stash as the ties. I’m going to see what’s in my fabric stash and make another pair!

Need more of these!

So from the first 10 days of Me Made May I can definitely see that I make a lot of Tilly’s patterns. I don’t see this as a bad thing. Do you? I am going to start working through the other patterns in my stash to mix things up a bit but I won’t stop making Tilly’s patterns. I also wanted some more casual jersey dresses so have made two short sleeve Coco dresses and another Agnes dress hack. This is me done for jersey dresses for the summer and the gap has been filled in my wardrobe. The left over scraps are going to be made into knickers. I’m going to have a cutting out sessions so that I can do some batch knicker sewing. For me the Orla is an everyday dress but I can dress them up if I want to. I have a few pieces of quilting cotton in my stash so I think I’m going to use it up by making a couple of Orlas as I love the fit on me.

This weeks sewing was some wardrobe staples and using up my jersey stash from Sew Me Sunshine.

I’m pleased with my first week. I’ve worn a variety out outfits and have used three pieces of fabric from my stash. You can read about my pledge here and make sure you let me know how you think I’ve done.
